Star Spangled Banner Music Questions
What is your opinion on the issue of the Star Spangled Banner (spanish version) matter? I think if Mexicans move here to America, they need to learn some goddamn english. We as Americans have to learn spanish if we move or visit Mexico. This subject sounds pretty straight forward to me. In my opinion, the American law is also hypocritical, they ban the spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner. If you remember, the President himself said, "If you live in America, you need to learn english." So, why not go the whole nine yards and ban ALL spanish music from the radio? Why should AMERICANS have to re-adjust our lives to make other people from another country happy? Please state your OPINION on this matter.

So changing the Star Spangled Banner to a Spannish version seems like a slap in the face to me? Our countries song changed to a Spannish version. I understand translating it to whatever language you speak, but to completely redo it? That seems like a complete insult. They say they used similar words but added some to make it "THEIR" version. It even has singers and the latino sound behind it. That really irks me actually. I mean if we went to Mexico and started americanizing their music (but who would want to) Im almost certain they would have a problem with it. Especially a country song that has extreme history and heart to it with our people. I mean hey are they going to change the Canadian anthem to Spannish as well? Hell lets have an all out Mix war with all the countries national anthems.
The Star-Spangled Banner http://newsbusters.org/blogs/d-s-hube/2008/02/11/another-flag-issue-obama any defence Protocol When the song is performed in public, it is customary for American citizens to stand and face the American flag, if one is displayed, in an attitude of respectful attention.[5] If no flag is on display, it is customary to stand and face the source of the music in the same respectful attitude of attention as if the flag were on display. People are also encouraged to remove their hats during the performance. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, military personnel, fire service, and law enforcement officers in uniform normally salute during the national anthem from the first note and hold the salute until the last note is played. Civilians who are citizens of the United States should salute by placing their right hand over their heart.[ I understand pride, but this is America. We are all part of America. Is the American anthem not enough? Does there have to be such a seperation? http://www.black-network.com/anthem.htm Yep, that's right -- that is the national flag of Cuba hanging So much disrespect for our nation and the things Americans die for. Have pride in our country

What is it about music that makes me want to cry sometimes? Even the Star Spangled Banner or America the Beautiful will turn on the tears....a special hymn in Church...a slow sweet song on the radio.... Elvis's song "In the Ghetto" is very sad....and makes me cry... I am not a "crier" and very seldom cry at anything else, but just wondering if music affects anyone else like this.... thanks
How do I clean or repair a cat urine-soaked historic newspaper? I have a newspaper page, 02/15/1942, Oakland Tribune. It's a full-page description of the music and complete verses of the Star Spangled Banner. It's recently been soaked with stinky cat urine and feels very fragile. Is there any way to save this clipping?
Any tips for memorizing sheet music? (for marching band)? So... Memorial Day is just around the corner, and as a member of my school's marching band, we will all be in attendance to perform for the parade. I have three patriotic pieces to memorize, which are the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, and Salute to America's finest. I haven't been in marching band that long, and any time I've played at our football games I have had a flip book of music for reference. I've been in one parade, and I had two pieces to memorize then. I don't know why, but memorizing them just came easily. This time around, I'm having more trouble. Does anyone have any tips for memorizing? They would be greatly appreciated!!
where do I find piano music? I recently enrolled in a singing class, and need to choose three songs and give the piano music to the teacher. I am an experienced vocalist and have decided on three challanging pieces---"Sit Down You're Rocking the Boat" from Guys and Dolls, "Unchained Melody," and "The Star Spangled Banner.' suggestions are appreciated. Thank you in advance except for the one where, you know, someone suggests that I sit down and shut up...
Can you help me come up with a good skit for our community performance? Every year, my local community puts on a performance, where the locals are encouraged to put together small acts in a friendly competition for prizes. Last year, my next-door neighbor won by belching the Star Spangled Banner. My wife and I would like to win and we're thinking of doing a rendition of the 1812 Overture. Only problem is that we don't have a cannon, and I really don't think the city would want us to fire off shots if we did. Instead, we were thinking of lighting off my flatulance in tune with the music, giving a nice booming sound alond with an impressive light show. Any suggestions on how to pull this off?
Looking for an older Nascar or racing music CD? Ok im looking for a music cd that is a nascar or racing cd, it was out in the 1990's, the cover of the cd is a tire and the words are yellow, the first song i believe is star spangled banner that is cut short and a song follows. I know Jeff foxworthy sings a song in it about dreaming about jumping in the tv and joining the race that is about all i know.
Classic Country Music Lovers--Which you would pick?? There have been many songs written and recorded during time of war such as "Soldiers Last letter" by Ernest Tubb and others ,"Hello Vietnam" by Johnny Wright" "I Am Praying For The Day That Peace Will Come" by Hank Williams Sr. "There's A Star Spangled Banner Waving Somewhere" by Elton Britt. Is there a song that fits or is sung about our country's involvement in the current military operations that is your favorite?
Bad etiquette to clap after the national anthem? When I was in the fourth grade (1994-1995), our elementary school music teacher made us learn the national anthem (Star Spangled Banner) because we were going on a field-trip to watch an orchestra perform and they began the concert with the national anthem. When practicing, she taught us something that I have remembered to this day: it is rude to clap at the end of the national anthem. "Even if everyone around you is clapping, you shouldn't clap." It always stuck with me because ever since then I find myself adhering to her rule, but of course, EVERYONE always claps at the end of the national anthem. I don't want to seem rude by not clapping, but I want to follow the proper etiquette. I tried looking online for national anthem etiquette and all I can find is that we should stand and take off hats/caps during the song. Has anyone ever heard of the etiquette about not clapping? Is it an old rule that no one follows anymore so it's okay to break it? Comments? I did some more research and it does seem like there are others who have also been taught the same: http://www.okctalk.com/okc-underground/6181-true-american.html "If you do NOT applaud after the national antham is played at an event, you might be a TRUE AMERICAN... I was always taught it was disrespectful to applaud the national antham. That lesson came from a man who won ten medals including the Congressional Medal of Honor for Normandy (D-Day)... He said it shows disrespect for the country and the flag." Some might argue that this is outdated, but you know how some traditions are hard to let go for some. For people like my teacher, clapping at the end of a song that represents our country, our flag, and our heroes who died for our country is akin to not standing during the song or not taking off your hat if wearing one. Just wanted to add that little detail so you can decide what you guys think.

Who will win the American Music Award 4 Favorite Female Country Artist? Hear r the nominees: Martina McBride Taylor Swift Carrie Underwood McBride, the "milf"-iest of the trio & w/ one of the most phenomenal voices in all of music (not just country), should politely applaud the winner, although I think she could pull off a upset (& maybe Carrie would drop her jaw like Faith). & I'm also saying u can't bet against the ubiquitous Underwood; I use such a adjective as she sang The Star-Spangled Banner @ the World Series in Denver. I do have Swift's self-titled album, which I asked 4 as a b'day gift. Supermodel looks, beautiful voice, & lyrics that r poignant in ballads & fun & witty in the mid-tempo songs. Taylor Swift has certainly become a favourite signer of mine this year, so if she doesn't get a trophy on this show, that's ok because I expect her 2 collect a few others (e.g. CMAs, ACMs, Grammys). That's my take; how about yours? Choose who u think will &/or should win & explain if you'd like. The American Music Awards is on 11/18/2007 on ABC.
music question? ______ _______ was a virtuoso guitar player who is well known for his distorted version of the star-spangled banner
Is music the answer? PYONGYANG, North Korea - The New York Philharmonic performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" for North Korea's communist elite Tuesday — a feat of musical diplomacy aimed at improving ties with the isolated nuclear-armed country that considers the U.S. its mortal enemy. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080226/ap_on_re_as/nkorea_ny_philharmonic They have invited Eric Clapton to play next.
Fourth Of July Music? I'm making a mix CD of songs for a block party a friend of mine is throwing. I need any and all songs that would go good for the holiday, or CDs that you already know of dedicated to this theme :) And not the obvious, like Star Spangled Banner. And non traditional is perfect, that's basically what I'm asking... rock music that would go along with fireworks, etc. :)
