Need lyrics for Muslim revision of Star Spangled Banner.? When they nuke us, cause they are, was working on a revision to the Spangled Banner for the year 2008. ...the thermonuclear glare gave proof through the night that Los Angeles was not there.... Alexandr: You almost made me feel like I was desecrating my American Heritage, but only almost. Our recent Government has already desecrated my Country.
Star Spangled Banner Questions? 1. I have to write a paper on how it inspires patriotism, but since it doesn't really inspire me, I would like you to give me reasons that it inspires you. I can't write my paper without reasons. 2. Can someone explain all the lyrics to me? Here they are if you need them: Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more! Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Who orchestrated the "Star-Spangled Banner" regularly performed by orchestras? Whenever a symphony orchestra performs the national anthem, it is usually the same arrangement that we recently heard performed by the New York Philharmonic during its visit to North Korea. I was wondering who did that arrangement, I'm guessing it was not by the composer who originally wrote for other reasons before Francis Scott Key adapted it for his lyrics. Other worthy mentions is Jerry Goldsmith's arrangement for the 1982 film, "Poltergeist" and John Williams' arrangement for brass and percussion performed at the 2007 World Series in Boston.

Should we consider changing one lyric in the National Anthem? I saw a bumper sticker and thought this was an improvement to the Star Spangled Banner...what do you think? Change the lyric: "...the land of the free, and the home of the brave." TO "..the land of the free, BECAUSE of the brave" What does everyone think?

Does everyone have a complaint about America?? It gets me so mad when I see people saying "I hate this country" or "September 11 was a deserved attack". Recently there was a Jazz singer, Rene Marie who was asked to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the Denver Mayor made an address. Instead she sang the lyrics of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" a hymn referred to as the "Black National Anthem" to the tune of the national anthem. I see people saying "what is the big deal...its only the Star Spangled Banner" The "big deal" is that it is America’s National Anthem and it should be held in the highest regards at all times. She should have been pulled off stage and fined for disgracing the country. Do people understand how lucky we are to live in America?!?! I think anyone that can disrespect this country and not care needs to get the boot. I am so sick of hearing Anti-American rhetoric! I love America, I am proud to be American! God Bless this country! If you are proud of this country take a stand! I understand that there is freedom of speach...maybe you should remind the people that are anti-american that the country they hate so much is one of the few that will allow you to opensly speak your mind!
Should anti-American liberals be prohibited from singing the National Anthem because they always ruin it? One of the most notable incidents from Tuesday's State of the City address occurred even before the mayor's speech began. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Rene Marie was introduced to sing the national anthem. But that's not what she sang. Marie actually sang the tune of the traditional national anthem with the lyrics to "Lift Every Voice and Sing." It's a song some have called the National Black Anthem, the Negro National Anthem or the Black National Anthem. She said she didn't want to sing the Star Spangled Banner because "it doesn't represent me." She said she didn't want to sing the Star Spangled Banner because "it doesn't represent me." She said she didn't want to sing the Star Spangled Banner because "it doesn't represent me." She said she didn't want to sing the Star Spangled Banner because "it doesn't represent me." She said she didn't want to sing the Star Spangled Banner because "it doesn't represent me."
Have you considered South African national anthem or flag? Do South African still remember the small big matter of a fan waving old SA flag at the closing ceremony of a rugby Test played against Wales. The Springbok captain John Smit admonished a fan. The skipper correctly pointed out to this gentleman that the Bokke knew who they were playing for and made his displeasure known. Nation building at its finest. Contrast this with a story from the USA. At an annual State of the City address, Michael Hancock introduced singer Rene Marie to perform the national anthem. Instead, she performed the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” which is also known as the “black national anthem.” When she finished, the audience responded with mild applause. The national anthem was never performed. Governor Bill Ritter tagged the incident as “inappropriate.” This has caused quite a stir (to put it mildly) in the city and the state. The singer, Marie, told 9NEWS she wanted to express her love of her country by mixing the lyrics of “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” with the melody of the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Was Marie simply expressing her feelings for the country she loves or was this very irresponsible? What about the fan waving old SA flag? Or let’s make it simplier - should we ever allow communities to revert to “Die Stem?” Would this be an expression of certain communities’ love of South Africa or seriously irresponsible? What about De La Rey or Lethu Mshini Wami?
Who will win the American Music Award 4 Favorite Female Country Artist? Hear r the nominees: Martina McBride Taylor Swift Carrie Underwood McBride, the "milf"-iest of the trio & w/ one of the most phenomenal voices in all of music (not just country), should politely applaud the winner, although I think she could pull off a upset (& maybe Carrie would drop her jaw like Faith). & I'm also saying u can't bet against the ubiquitous Underwood; I use such a adjective as she sang The Star-Spangled Banner @ the World Series in Denver. I do have Swift's self-titled album, which I asked 4 as a b'day gift. Supermodel looks, beautiful voice, & lyrics that r poignant in ballads & fun & witty in the mid-tempo songs. Taylor Swift has certainly become a favourite signer of mine this year, so if she doesn't get a trophy on this show, that's ok because I expect her 2 collect a few others (e.g. CMAs, ACMs, Grammys). That's my take; how about yours? Choose who u think will &/or should win & explain if you'd like. The American Music Awards is on 11/18/2007 on ABC.
