What are your opinions on a Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner?
The boycots and walk outs for Monday staged by the Latino leadership are associated with their demands for this Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner?

- I think they should sing the Spanish version in English. ;)
- i've never heared it, where can i hear it? please message me with a link or something.
- My point exactly, they really don't want to assimilate into our society.
- I think it is utterly ridiculous! It was written in English for a reason, it is the AMERICAN anthem!!
- this kind of shyt only emphasizes how shallow americans really are. the government keeps you angry and afraid that you don't pay attention to the bigger picture.
- That would depend on how the Hispanics feel about the new American version of "Mexicanos, al grito de guerra" (Mexican National Anthem) which we will get Toby Keith to sing as a new B side to his hit record "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)".
- I think it should be translated in all languages, perhaps then the whole world can hear our song. As for it being in English only that is ridiculous, English was not the 1st language spoken here in America as a matter of fact Spanish was spoken here way before English was, and English is the common language here not the legal language here. I do say this, the Star Spangled Banner will sound beautiful in any language.
- Let them boycott and walkout all they want! This is America and our language is English and immigrants all through history until recently have recognized that in order to fully become American and a part of this society that they must function effectively in English. I'm not saying forget or not honor one's culteral heritage.
- The latino community is doing nothing to help it's cause by making demands on the American government. What it is doing is drawing attention to the real cost of the illegals being here. It is also alienated those Americans who would normally sympathize with them and their illegal brothers. It is starting to become a dollars and cents issue as to what it is costing the average tax payer in housing, health care, and education for people who have no right even being here. And then to make demands on our government? I don't think so!
The Spanish version of the Star Spanlish Banner, sucks! It is nothing more than a propaganda piece for the latino cause.
If it is the latino plan to divide this country, they will surly lose. And do you know what, I don't mind cutting my own grass.
- I would like some proof that this is a 'demand' made by 'Latino' leaders!
- I do not agree with this. The Latinos want to be what? I haven't figured that out, Mexican in America? I keep hearing that this issue is about immigrants and their right to the American dream....Well immigrants from all parts of the world have settled legally for years, speaking English and teaching their children American values and culture, while maintaining their own history. Why are Latinos different, what makes them special compared to the millions of other immigrants who spoke polish, Gaelic, or french and then learned english? My great grandparents were immirgants from Cananda, they spoke french, they also learned english and taught thier children english. The sang the National Antham in english with pride.
- I think it is a very big load of crap!! I mean seriously where's the native American version, where's the Japanese version, where's the African American version, where's the Irish version, where's the Muslim version, where's the Russia version, where's the Chinese version, where's the Philippine version etc.. Why doesn't every ethnicity in America sing their own version of the Star Spangled Banner in their own native tongue during sporting events. For the idiot British born composer of this Latino version - this is not a tribute - this is an attack on our culture and language. Wake up Americans there is a cancer growing among us and it will slowly kill us.
- yea man i agree with the guy above. Other countries don't have different versions of their national anthem. So why should we. That is a disgrace to our country. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Actually, I always assumed that people who only speak Spanish would sing this song in Spanish. And that goes for the Chinese, Japanese, Indians, etc. At least this way non-English speakers can understand it.
And I don't think there are any "demands for this Spanish version". I think they're trying to make a point, but I think the point will just increase the anger of mainstream Americans.
- IT SHOULD BE SUNG IN ENGLISH.
